Can The Patriots Get Back To Their Old Ways?

The New England Patriots are an interesting team coming into this season. After losing last season in the AFC Championship game to the Broncos 26-16, you have to think that they will be coming out hungry and ready to get their revenge. To start, they have beefed up their defense by adding corner Darrelle Revis among others. However, one thing that remains a concern for the Patriots is their offense. They just don’t seem interested in beefing up the wide receiving corp. There is potential there however. If Danny Amendola and Rob Gronkowski can stay healthy this year they will definitely have some of the pieces of a dangerous offense. However, they just don’t seem to have a big guy on the outside that can be a true game changer. In my opinion, this is one of the biggest parts of any offense.

However, the Patriots have been able to overcome their lack of big play making wide receivers in recent years because of one reason. Tom Brady. Time and time again Brady has had to put this team on his back and will his way to a victory. Of course, as long as Tom Brady is on your team you are always going to be a contender. The man is one of the best to ever throw a football. But even with Brady on their team the Pats haven’t been able to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl since 2011.

Brady is going to be 37 this year and eventually the question of “how much longer can he do this” has to enter your mind. “How long can he evade Father Time? How many years does Tom Brady have left playing at the highest of levels?” There is no doubt in my mind that the Patriots front office has asked themselves these same questions. What was once a wide open window for the Pats to win a Super Bowl is slowly shutting. If they want to get back to their old ways, they need to get Brady some help, and soon.
